Effective date: August 1, 2026
Auxentia is a brand of Novara Consulting Group, LLC ("Novara," "we," "us," "our"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have, across the Auxentia website (auxentia.org) and our mobile applications.
Accessibility and honest data practices are core to what Auxentia is. We built our apps to do as much as possible on your device, to ask only for the information a feature actually needs, and to avoid advertising and cross-app tracking entirely.
The apps this policy covers
Each of the following is a product of Auxentia, a brand of Novara Consulting Group, LLC:
- Waymere: accessible wayfinding and transit navigation.
- Perceptius: real-time communication, captioning, and translation.
- Aptus, Lodestar, and Amity Games: additional Auxentia apps. Where one of these collects data, its specific practices are described in that app's App Store privacy label; the general terms in this policy apply to all our apps.
Information we collect
On the Auxentia website
- Contact & intake forms. When you contact us, request app support, or submit an app for review, we collect the name, email, organization (optional), and message you provide, so we can respond.
- Newsletter subscriptions. If you subscribe to the Auxentia Journal, we store your email address and the topics you opt into.
- Store orders (enterprise/agency licensing and publications). If you purchase, we store your name, email, billing details, and order history. Payment card details are handled by our payment processor (Stripe) and are never stored on our servers.
- Technical data. Like most websites, our servers log IP addresses and basic request information for security and diagnostics.
- Preferences. Your accessibility preferences (such as dark mode, high contrast, or text size) are stored on your device.
We use only the cookies necessary to operate the site and remember your accessibility preferences. We do not use non-essential or advertising cookies by default.
In our apps (overview)
Depending on which app and features you use, we may process:
- Account information: if you create an account or sign in (for example, to sync your settings across devices), we process your sign-in identifier and the data you choose to sync.
- Content you create: such as saved places in Waymere or notes and cards in Perceptius.
- Device inputs a feature needs: such as location, microphone/speech, or camera, described under "Device permissions" below. Many of these are processed on your device and never leave it.
- Purchases: subscriptions and in-app purchases are processed by Apple; we receive confirmation of your subscription status but not your payment card details.
- Diagnostics: we may process limited technical information to keep the apps working. We do not use advertising SDKs, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
Waymere
Waymere is a product of Auxentia, a brand of Novara Consulting Group, LLC.
- Location. Waymere uses your location for walking, driving, and public-transit directions, real-time departures, Park & Ride planning, live traffic and road-closure awareness, and nearby places. With your permission, it also works in the background so it can alert you as you approach your stop with the screen off. To calculate these, the necessary location and destination information is sent to Google Maps Platform (Directions, Places, and Transit services).
- Microphone & speech. If you search by voice, your spoken words are converted to text using Apple's speech recognition to perform the search.
- AI assistant. The assistant answers questions about your own saved routes, trips, and nearby places. For free users it runs on your device using Apple's on-device model. Premium sends your question and the relevant context (your saved routes, trips, and nearby places) to Google Gemini, through our secure backend, only to answer you.
- In-app translation. If you enable it, place names and announcements are translated into your chosen language using a translation service.
- Contacts (address picker). If you choose to pull a destination from your contacts, iOS shows the system contact picker and returns only the address you select. Waymere does not read or upload your contact list.
- Account, saved places & searches. If you sign in to sync across devices, we process your account identifier and the name and email address on your account. Your favorites such as Home and Work (which may include a street address) and your recent destination searches are stored on your device and, when you sign in, synced via our cloud provider (Firebase); Firebase also uses a device identifier to operate sync and notifications.
- Maps. Map tiles and place details are served by our mapping providers (Google, and where applicable Mapbox / OpenStreetMap).
Perceptius
Perceptius is a product of Auxentia, a brand of Novara Consulting Group, LLC.
- Speech and text, on your device. Live captioning (speech-to-text) and text-to-speech run on your device using Apple’s speech engine. Your audio is not uploaded.
- Premium translation and AI voices. Perceptius+ features send the necessary text to our processing providers to generate premium natural voices (OpenAI, via our secure backend) or translations (Google Cloud Translation), solely to perform the feature you requested. Only text is sent, not audio.
- Camera (magnify, read & describe). Perceptius uses the camera to magnify what’s in front of you, read text aloud (OCR), and describe a scene. Magnification and text recognition happen on your device. If you use AI describe, a captured image is sent to our vision provider (OpenAI, via our secure backend) to return a description; the image is used only to produce that description and is not kept for other purposes.
- Notes & cards. Your quick-reference notes and cards are stored on your device and need no account; if you sign in, they can sync via our cloud provider (Firebase / Firestore).
- Conversation rooms. If you join a shared conversation room, the captions and messages in that room are transmitted to the other participants through our backend to enable the conversation.
- Account (optional). If you sign in with Apple or Google to sync across devices, we process your account identifier and the name and email address on your account.
- Push notifications. If you enable them, we process a device push token via Firebase Cloud Messaging.
We do not submit your personal content to third-party AI systems to train their models; providers process your input only to return the result you asked for.
Device permissions, explained
- Location (Waymere): for directions, nearby places, and stop alerts; background access is used only to keep guiding you during a trip.
- Microphone & speech recognition (Waymere, Perceptius): for voice search and live captioning (processed on your device).
- Camera (Perceptius): for magnification, reading text (OCR), and AI describe; magnification and OCR stay on your device.
- Contacts (Waymere): only the single address you pick is returned to the app; your contact list is not accessed or uploaded.
You can review and change these permissions any time in your device's Settings.
Third-party services we use
We use the following providers as service providers / processors to deliver features you request. We do not sell your information to them or anyone else.
- Apple: on-device speech, translation, text-to-speech, and (Waymere's free assistant) on-device AI; App Store purchases and subscriptions.
- Google: Maps Platform (directions, places, transit), Cloud Translation, Gemini (Waymere's Premium AI assistant), Google Sign-In, and Firebase (authentication, cloud sync/Firestore, and Cloud Messaging).
- OpenAI: Perceptius's premium natural voices and AI image description (describe), accessed through our secure backend.
- Mapbox / OpenStreetMap: map tiles, where applicable.
- Stripe: payment processing for website purchases.
Each provider processes only the data needed for its function. We require our service providers to protect your information consistent with this policy and to use it only to provide their services to us, not for their own purposes.
How we use your information
- To provide and operate the apps and website and the features you request.
- To sync your settings and content across your devices, if you sign in.
- To respond to your messages and provide support.
- To keep our services secure and working, and to comply with legal obligations.
We do not use your personal information for advertising, and we do not track you across other companies' apps and websites.
Data retention
We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes above: on-device content stays until you delete it or remove the app; account and synced data are kept while your account is active and deleted on request; website messages and orders are kept as needed to respond and to meet legal and accounting obligations.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and server-side handling of sensitive credentials. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your data and to limit what we collect in the first place.
Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live (including under the EU/UK GDPR and the California Consumer Privacy Act / CPRA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for cross-context behavioral advertising. To exercise any right, contact us using the details below; we will not discriminate against you for doing so.
Deleting your account and your data
If an app lets you create an account, you can request deletion of your account and its associated data at any time, directly within the app, or by contacting us, and we will delete it. On-device content is removed when you delete it in the app or remove the app from your device.
Children's privacy
Our apps are not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
International users
We operate from the United States, and our service providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for international transfers.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice.
