Is Perceptius free?
Core speech-to-text, text-to-speech, magnifier, OCR, and notes are free and work on device. Perceptius+ adds AI voices, cloud translation, AI describe, and monthly credits.
Do I need an account?
No. Notes and core features work without one. Sign in with Apple or Google only if you want to sync across devices.
Does it work offline?
On-device speech-to-text, text-to-speech, magnifier, OCR, and translation work offline. Premium AI voices, cloud translation, and AI describe need an internet connection.
Is my audio or camera sent anywhere?
- Cloud translation sends the text you’re translating.
- Premium AI voices send the text to be spoken.
- AI Describe sends the single photo you ask it to describe.
Does it work with VoiceOver and braille displays?
Yes, the whole app is built for VoiceOver, with spoken announcements for key updates, Dynamic Type (large text), high‑contrast themes, and adjustable text color and weight. Braille displays and Full Keyboard Access are supported, and you can route audio to hearing aids or AirPods.
Do I need an account?
Does it work offline?
Yes for the core: on-device speech-to-text, text-to-speech, translation, notes, magnifier, and haptic alerts all work without internet. Premium AI voices, cloud translation, and AI Describe need a connection.
Is it really free?
The core is free forever. Perceptius+ adds premium AI voices, cloud translation, AI Describe, and 1,000 AI credits a month, with a 14-day free trial.
What are AI credits, and what happens when they run out?
Credits power the cloud AI features (premium voices, cloud translation, AI Describe). Perceptius+ includes 1,000 a month; you can buy top-up packs, and the free on-device features keep working regardless.
Do I need an Apple Watch?
No. Everything works on iPhone alone. The Apple Watch app is an optional companion for haptic alerts and Feel the Time — you can feel alerts and the time on your wrist, dictate a quick note, and configure the watch from your iPhone.
Is it good for deaf and hard-of-hearing users?
Yes. Live speech-to-text turns what people say into large readable text, and you get alerts you can feel as distinct haptic patterns on your iPhone or Apple Watch.
Can two people who speak different languages talk with it?
Yes. In Face-to-Face, each person’s speech is transcribed and translated. In a Multi-Person room, several people join by QR code or a 6-character code and each sees the conversation in their own language.
Can my family share one subscription?
Yes. Perceptius+ Family and the Novara Suite – Family support Family Sharing for up to 6 people.
What is the Novara Suite?
One plan that unlocks Perceptius+ and Waymere (our accessible navigation app) together, as Individual or Family.
How do I cancel?
Anytime in your Apple Account settings, under Subscriptions. Your access continues until the period ends.
Is Perceptius a medical device?
No. Perceptius is an assistive aid, not a substitute for professional services or your own judgment.
Which devices are supported?
iPhone and iPad, with an Apple Watch companion. Requires iOS 26 or later.
